Bound

These photographs recall timeless attachments.
Eternal ties that while breathing in life embody the force to stifle.
The bonds that both enhance and hinder,
sculpting the patterns of our lives
beyond the limits of time.
Journeys through the worlds of love are an apprenticeship,
the staightest path is not the shortest.
Man’s discovery of woman’s body laced with bonds
unleashes an impulse
to capture,
to bind,
revealing his original desire of domination.
In acting on these impulses, he is imprisoned by his fantasies, his fears, his cravings,
Or he seeks to revive their bonds,be they contractual or ethereal.
At the edge of consciousness
these submerged impulses relay elements of his emotions and thoughts
with those he loves, transmissions which find their way back to him,
holding one with the other in continuous connection.
Outside the contraints of language
These circling emotions temper the longing.
When laughter and complicity enter the arena, the attached
importance of sex begins to wane,
losing its place
as the object of the union,
the supreme act that once offered refuge
which becomes but a passing phase…
Unselfish love seeks perfect balance to win its rightful place,
averting the fatal impass of slavery
duping the bonds of alienating dependence.
Giving, receiving,
asking nothing in return,
sustained by beauty without desire to possess,
will we allow the unearthing of this new force ?
